NWO wants to provide more opportunities for scientific talent. This means that a number of temporary types of grant from NWO, such as the Innovational Research Incentive Scheme, must continue to exist.

Aspasia continuous application
Aspasia was launched in October 1999 as a scheme to increase the number of women senior lecturers.
Big Grid Computing and Data Facilities continuous application
Researchers can apply for access to grid infrastructures like compute clusters (computing time), data storage facilities, supported by grid middleware and software. Human support can be applied for as well, but is not discussed in the programme brochure.
Clinical Fellows
The programme Clinical Fellows is aimed at doctors who have completed the AGIKO course (Medical Assistant Training to be Clinical Researcher) or a comparable course. They must be willing to arrange their clinical-scientific work at an academic level as clinical specialists with a PhD degree, general practitioners or medical officers, for instance to present themselves as future candidates to be academic staff members or professors.
Cooperation China (CSC) - Talent and Training (TTChina)
The aim of the programme is to increase the quality and quantity of PhD research in the Netherlands and to strengthen scientific cooperation with China, by inviting highly talented Chinese PhD candidates to conduct research at selected Dutch graduate schools.

Doctoral Grant for Teachers
The aim of Doctoral Research for Teachers is to increase the number of teachers holding a doctorate, as this will help to boost the quality of education provided. The programme is open to teachers from primary, secondary, vocational, higher and special education.
Dutch-Belgian Beamline (DUBBLE) open for application
Through this fund researchers from the Netherlands and Flanders can gain access to a synchrotron radiation research facility.
ECHO Project Grants
Free Competition of the NWO Division for Chemical Sciences (CW)
ECHO-project grants offer the opportunity to carry out a high quality science driven chemical research project. In this way a challenging scientific idea can be pursued, a new research area can be opened up or a scientific innovation can be established.

This programme offers financial support to research proposals without programmatic preconditions in the physical sciences upto 110.000 euro.
Graduate Programme
Inter-university or local graduate schools can apply for a blockgrant of k€ 800 to appoint PhD students. The Graduate Programme aims to strengthen the Dutch PhD system by stimulating the incorporation of elements of the American Graduate School system.
Gravitation
The aim of the Gravitation Programme is to identify and boost consortia with an excellent scientific research programme that have the potential to make a substantial scientific contribution at the highest international level. It is expected that the researchers involved currently operate at the highest national level and are already active at the highest international level.
Horizon (formerly H Programmes)
Horizon (formerly H Programmes) focuses on scientific innovation in humanities disciplines. These are research programmes that have the potential to determine the research agendas for future humanities research.
ICT Innovation Platform - Cooperation Challenge
To support the ICT Innovation Platforms (IIPs) and to stimulate the formation of a community of researchers and users that operates at the boundaries of the IPPs, ICTRegie is launching a call: the IIP Cooperation Challenge.

Free Competition of WOTRO Science for Global Development
The Integrated Programme scheme is aimed at supporting excellent problem-oriented interdisciplinary research to the benefit of development and societal issues in the South. An IP may address developmental and societal issues: in a broad sense that may lead to new insights, theories and/or breakthroughs in current knowledge and understanding or fitting within one or more of four themes of WOTRO’s framework: (A) Poverty and Hunger; (B) Sustainable Environment (C) Global Relationships.

Longitudinal Studies in Social and Behavioural Sciences continuous application
In longitudinal studies repeated measurements are made over a prolonged period of time using the same method in order to identify a particular trend. NWO seeks to contribute to the data-gathering costs of a number of established academic studies that measure changes in society.
More Women Researchers as University Lecturers (MEERVOUD) open for application
The purpose of Meervoud is to create temporary assistant professorship positions with the quarantee of a tenured assistant professorship within the university. Both the temporary and permanent position should be at least 0.8 fte. Upon submitting the proposal, the university provides a declaration of intent stating that the candidate will obtain a tenured assistent professorship upon completing the Meervoud project.

The Open Program of the Division for Earth and Life Sciences offers financial support across the full range of Dutch research in the earth and life sciences.
PhDs in the Humanities
The aim of the new PhD programme is to attract young research talent in the humanities. The structure enhancement plans of universities/faculties for education and organisation form the necessary framework for this. Two types of PhD position can be applied for, namely standard PhD positions and PhD positions for lecturers.
Principal Investigator Preparatory Programme (PIPP)
NWO Physical Sciences (EW) is cooperating with the Netherlands Space Office (NSO) in the Principal Investigator Preparatory Programme (PIPP). The programme focuses on preparing future Dutch principal investigator (PI) roles in scientific space missions.
Research Talent
Research Talent is a subsidy programme with open competition for high-level PhD research for young talented individuals with a demonstrable ambition to pursue a career as scientist.
Rubicon
The aim of the Rubicon programme is to encourage talented researchers who have completed their doctorates in the past year the chance to gain experience at a top research institution outside the Netherlands (maximum of two years).

The programme Teacher in Research allows fully qualified mathematics teachers to spend a number of months doing scientific research at a university.
